Important Info: Canistel varieties come in many different shapes and sizes. There's long and skinny, short and fat, as big as your head, as small as a tangerine, and everything in between. The “Small Box” will generally contain smaller pieces of fruit and the “Large Box” will generally contain larger pieces of fruit.
Origin: Egg fruit (Canistel) is native to Mexico and Central America. The Eggfruit we offer is grown in New South Wales.
Flavor Profile: The Canistel fruit, also known as Eggfruit or Yellow Sapote has a dense, cake-like texture similar to the yolk of a hard-boiled egg.
How to eat
Egg fruit may need time to ripen after delivery. Ripen at room temperature of 70 degrees or above for optimal consumption. Eggfruit is ready to eat once it is very soft all over, so much so, that you can easily cut it or pull it apart with your hands. Eggfruit may be enjoyed on its own, added to a cake, or smoothie.
